Summary

The Magnit (VMS) mobile application is a configurable cloud-based SaaS solution designed to manage the end-to-end workflow of the contingent workforce on handheld mobile devices. Key functions include sourcing new candidates with vetted suppliers, reviewing bill rates, margins, and costs to optimize spending, reviewing assignments for all workers, and managing the onboarding and off-boarding process. The mission for this project was to overhaul the UI and UX of the mobile application to improve customer retention, attract new users, and position the product as a leading competitor within the competitive landscape.

Objectives

• Enhance Mobile Usability: Simplify the user experience to ensure that users can efficiently navigate the application on handheld devices, reducing the learning curve and increasing productivity.
• Modernize Visual Design: Update the visual aesthetics to align with contemporary design trends, ensuring a clean, professional, and appealing interface.
• Optimize Workflow Efficiency: Streamline key workflows to reduce the number of steps required to complete tasks, thereby saving time and reducing potential errors.
• Increase Engagement: Introduce interactive elements and intuitive navigation to keep users engaged and satisfied with the product.

Process

• Information Architecture: Restructured the information architecture to provide a logical and intuitive organization of the application’s functions. This involved creating a clear and consistent navigation system, categorizing functions in a way that aligns with user workflows, and minimizing the cognitive load on users.
• Wireframing and Prototyping: Created wireframes to outline the basic structure and layout of the mobile UI. Developed interactive prototypes to test and refine user interactions, ensuring that the design supports efficient and error-free task completion.
• Visual Design: Applied a modern, cohesive visual design language that enhances the application’s usability and aesthetic appeal. This included selecting a color palette that is both professional and visually engaging, choosing typography that is readable and accessible on small screens, and designing icons and graphics that are intuitive and supportive of the overall user experience.
• UI Design System: Developed a UI design system to ensure consistency and efficiency across the application.
• User Testing and Feedback: Conducted usability testing with users to gather feedback on the prototypes. Iteratively refined the design based on user feedback to address any issues and improve the overall user experience.
